If you’re reading this article you probably are either considering starting a blog or you already own a blog but you aren’t generating the amount of income from it that you’d like. Either way, any blog that is constructed properly has no reason to be a failure. The problem is that most bloggers aren’t making money because they don’t understand how to maximize their blogs potential. So lets start with the basics – Key Components to monetize your blog
If you have these four items working together in unison there’s truly no limit to how much money you can make from your weblog. Choosing the best blog topic
The topic of your blog is only limited by your own imagination. When choosing a topic the most important thing is to make sure that you select something that is not too broad but not too narrow because you will need to produce content daily or even every few days that fits into your theme. For example, my blog on my website focuses on making money from home WITH NO INVESTMENT. Every article I write is about some aspect of earning a living online without spending a penny to do so. Having a not-too-broad but not-too-narrow topic like mine allows me to produce literally hundreds, if not thousands, of articles that relate to the online industry – affiliate programs, PPC companies, writing articles for cash, getting paid to chat, etc.
There’s two main mistakes most bloggers make when creating a new blog and that is either A. Not picking a theme/topic or B. Picking way to narrow of a topic.
If you choose not to decide on a theme and stick too it you are going to be doomed from the start. Visitors find your blog mostly by search engine results. If a visitor types in a phrase such as “Make Money Online by Writing Articles” and when they go to your site they see articles about your children, places to shop in LA and info about sports betting, they’re going to leave your site and probably not return. The goal is to get repeat visitors. You WANT people to bookmark your site. You WANT people to recommend your site to their friends, write about it on their site and so on. So please pick a topic and stick to it.
However, if your topic is too narrow, such as “Recipes for Chip Dip”, your also going to loose readership because you will reach the point where you can no longer produce new, innovative recipes. You may be able to find 75 different chip dip recipes but then what? What do you do when your recipes run out? Instead, broaden your topic to something like, “Appetizer Recipes” or even “Dip Recipes”.
The all time biggest no-no when choosing a topic is to decide to blog about your life. This may sound harsh, but it’s true – NOBODY CARES. Unless you are a famous celebrity, nobody, besides your sister and mother are going to want to read about your day-to-day life. I mean, do YOU care that my son learned to ride a bike today or that my husbands car broke down and it cost $206 to fix it? Probably not. Most people who create blogs about their life end up either being braggers (“I got a $6,000 raise today”, “My daughter gets straight A’s in school”, etc) or whiners (“My job is so hard!”, “This divorce is so difficult for me to handle”, etc) – and no matter what, you’re still left with the same end result – no readership and no money.
The topic you pick should be something you know by heart. Your theme needs to be the one area that you are able to instruct other on without having to do research. What are you a pro at? Parenting tips, Real Estate, Marketing, Product Reviews, Finding Freebies Online, etc.
Once you have chosen your topic and created a blog it’s time to create content. Your content needs to be unique – this means no plagiarizing! The key to owning a successful, money making blog is having lots of content. People will only find your blog through search engine searches if your content matches what they are searching for. So be sure to write at least one article every day!
Next you will need to seek out advertisers. Here’s a list of programs that pay you per each click.
Lastly, you will want to place your advertisements in the right spots. The goal is to get your ads noticed but not have them be so overbearing that your content is lost. Place no more than one banner in each of your articles and one banner at the top of your main page. You should also be able to take advantage of some of the room in your sidebar, but remember, content comes first, so put ads after your content has ended or use small ads as a divider.
Keep tabs on which ads are making money and which aren’t. Don’t hesitate to swap out your ads when they begin to depreciate! And that’s how to make a Killer Monetized Blog! Comments (0)
