I recently applied and interviewed with an Orlando based marketing firm. I responded to their ad on Craigslist and the interview went well. I'll hear back from them next week, so at that point I'll have a better indication of whether I'll get the job. They did tell me they were impressed with my resume. On Craigslist they listed certain qualifications. I went ahead and filled in my experience with the qualification they wanted. So, bolded are they listed qualification and below each was my description for each as to why I'd be prepared for the job. I thought this could give me an edge over the other candidates. If I land this gig I'll be a happy man. Check it out:
Description: The employee will develop integrated internet marketing strategies with the goal of increasing brand presence across the web. This includes search engine marketing, advertising, and email marketing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
I have experience with a variety of traffic tools including
Alexa and Google Analytics, which I often frequent to check on a variety of
blogs and websites. In addition I frequently visit Google AdSense, Commission
Junction, Adify, and other revenue programs where among other things I look at
clicks per thousand impressions and conversion rates.
I have worked to hard to reach out to bloggers in a variety
of industries, aspiring artists and built alliances that have allowed sites to
grow at minimal cost and created backlinks. I've done this through emails
(newsletters), phone calls and mostly Web 2.0 community approaches (blog
comments, message boards, article tagging, article submissions, ect).
I understand the content structure a website needs to
operate with in terms of navigation, breadcrumb trail, click limits, meta data,
keyword research, directory submissions, Google Adwords and how to best reach
out to a particular community.
Not sure what this
implies exactly (It turns out is has to do with exchanging links).
The best way to create presence online is to increase
content and then leverage that content in ways that will be most beneficial.
For existing content, I look at cross linking approaches, relevancy, usability,
code, titles, word placement and so on. For new content I want it to be
relevant, original, filled with useful links, keyword rich, meta tag focused
and clean.
I have experience
working with both programmers and those who lack in computer skills in bringing
together content in a quick, appealing and optimized (SEO) form. I am active in podcasting, video (imbedding), viral marketing and social networks throughout the web. I've signed up far too many Web 2.0 communities where you "tag" articles, just to test them out. I find that focusing on a couple of the better ones for your particular content is the best way to go.
