There are many ways to make money online as a freelancer. Whether your niche is freelance writing, freelance web design, freelance graphic design or blogging. But, making money as a freelancer doesn’t always have to be an uphill battle. Your skills as a freelancer are needed by clients, but clients don’t always know you are out there. When I began my career as a freelance web designer, I applied to jobs online, posted my resume on freelance job boards and contacted web design companies to inform them of my skills are possible service as a web designer. I received some call backs and even scored web design projects that I applied for. But, it wasn't until I began to network throughout the freelance community and create a name for myself by web marketing that the freelance jobs really started rolling in. If you want clients contacting you for freelance projects they need to outsource, you have to market your freelance services and abilities through as many venues as possible. Web marketing is a tricky business, but it also a very specific business and once you understand how to go about creating your online identity, the benefits of your work come back ten fold.
How to Market Your Freelance Services:
Writing is not everyone's niche, but if you can write about what you know in a way that is at least informative and helpful, you can gain incredible exposure and build a professional name for yourself and create buzz surrounding your freelance online identity.
TIP: When you write articles online, submit your pieces to e-zines and online journals that allow you to link your portfolio.
Companies and potential clients use these sources to find freelancers for projects they need filled. With professional article submissions, illustrating your knowledge and an online portfolio and identity that showcase your freelance abilities, clients are going to be confident in contacting you directly for freelance work. My Personal Experience:As I said before, I began my freelance career with a simple online portfolio of my work and by applying for freelance jobs online. I began writing for e-zines and online blog communities, focusing on web design and graphic design. Then, I decided to start writing blogs that focused on subjects that I knew about and my interests as a freelancer. About 3 months after I began focusing on creating my online identity, I received e-mails, messages and even phone calls from clients who had followed the link to my portfolio within my articles and needed my freelance services! It doesn't happen over night, but if you want to become a successful freelancer making a lucrative long term career, you should focus on marketing your services as much as possible. It pays off big time in the long run! Comments (0)
